The state of the modern family

The Equal Opportunities Commission has undertaken new analysis to identify key trends that shape the behaviour of families in the 21st Century. They found that the key challenge facing society today is that variations in income are creating a large divide between ‘have’ and ‘have-not’ families, with poverty and child development problems affecting the ‘have-nots’ to a stronger extent. Their analysis also confirms the demise of the ‘breadwinner dad’ and the ‘homemaker mum’ and discusses other drivers affecting the modern family such as the ageing population.
